I've finally figured out how to maintain my sanity regarding the animals. Step one, put the kittens in the basement for the night. They get to play, Bo doesn't chase Walter, Walter doesn't attack my necklace, I can unknot the curtains and I get to sleep. Step two, close the door to the hallway and double up the baby gates at the entrance to the kitchen, then at night pick all the cat food and it doesn't matter if Bo wanders in. That also means Gracie gets some time without Walter attacking her or Bo chasing her.
Simple. And working so far.
Mom and dad left this morning. House feels kinda empty with no humans in it, but Bo is at my side as usual, so it helps. I'm catching up on Once Upon a Time and snacking on popcorn because it is, after all, Friday. Popcorn is allowed on Fridays. :) Anyway, I enjoyed their visit and I hope they did, too. I wish I could have showed them more of the area, but we didn't have a lot of time.
The funds were released today so I have officially sold my house. I loved living there, put a lot of work into it (as did dad), but I'm glad to be rid of it. It means we can start a new phase in our lives. This will not be an easy year, but it will make the following years easier, and we have a plan going forward that I think is pretty solid.
Picked up more hickory nuts today. I have a pretty full bag at this point, so I just have to crack them open and roast them. Some need to dry out a bit before I can use them.
