262 - Curtains

Mike got the curtain project finished. I decided not to stain the dowel because I like the contrast between the pipe and the natural finish. I like it. It's far sturdier than the rods we had and the curtains are much easier to open. Feels more grown up and it's special because Mike made it.

Privacy! The shears were pretty but they didn't really feel private. Not like we get a lot of traffic but still.

I didn't get much done today, just didn't have any energy to get started so the most I did was vacuum in preparation for mopping tomorrow, and I bagged laundry for tomorrow. I did a lot more yesterday so at least I don't feel like I'm behind. So I'm just going to sit back and enjoy my Friday.

261 - For the birds

Okay, so we're back to birds. Our projects are pretty much all still "in work" so there's nothing more to report except for the clearing of clutter.

The cardinal FINALLY landed in a spot where we could get a good picture.

And so did one of the blue birds. Still don't know what bird this is but it's gorgeous and striking.

Tomorrow is laundry and floor cleaning. It's been snowy/muddy outside so the floor is dirty but until the mud subsides it's fighting a losing battle to try to clean it. Today I dusted and organized and Mike is working on the curtain rod project.

260 - More ballz

Last night it got foggy

And stayed foggy through the morning

The road to nowhere

The ice is starting to melt. Sounded like rain as it fell from the trees. So far I haven't seen any cracked limbs on our property. Saw a few in town though.

The neighbor's fence was covered in ice. Looks almost like Christmas lights.

More barn porn.

Why is Bo nekked? Because he took off on another grand adventure. This time he completely defied us when we tried to get him home. We chased him for at least 30 mins and I figured he would eventually wear himself out. Between Mike in the truck, the neighbor's dog, and me on foot, we wrangled him. He was carried home and bathed. Again. He didn't like either. So now... except at night and during rainstorms, when he doesn't want to stay out, he will be on a leash until we get the fence done. Can't have him running the roads.

No matter how irritated we are with him, Bo with the ball in his mouth is just too cute.

My new favorite Bo pic.

My husband is a smartie. I love the way his mind works (when he uses it for good, hahaha) because he really comes up with some neat ideas. This was a can rotator we used in the RV. Doesn't work well in the cabinets we have here so Mike repurposed it to hold spray paint.

And he bought this handle when he was trying to figure out a way to hold his CB mouthpiece in the truck. It didn't work, but it attaches a lighter to his tool bench pretty handily. He says he's always using his lighter for things, so now it has a place of its own.

Speaking of CB's, this is his CB stand.

And we can use dry erase markers to write on the cabinet doors. So I did this and he is tolerating it pretty well. :)

The cats broke our infrared oven, so Mike is using the lid holder to hold his saw.

And one of the bowls we used for Gracie when we traveled now holds his mugs.

He made a touchpad holder with his sliding compound miter saw. Oh, the bench has a top now.

Some of the pallet stringers had arches cut out of them, so that's a handy place to hang shop rags.

And we never brought the ottoman upstairs after we emptied the RV... no room for it really. So it's a comfy place to sit.

More stuff on the toolbench, but out of the way.

Patches.

The hubs at work. He's making a sturdier curtain rod for the living room. The cheap rods we hung when we moved in are pretty flimsy and were never meant to be permanent. The one on the end where Bo's pillow is keeps getting ripped out of the wall and has finally bitten the dust. Commercial rods aren't quite long enough, so he's custom making one from a closet dowel rod and some pvc. Sounds crazy but looks promising.

Bootsie is trying to absorb it all so he can help next time.

All the pallet wood we need to sand and stain.

Painted pvc, drying so they can be installed later.

Mike's paper towel holder.

Another part of the curtain rod prior to painting. Intrigued? You'll have to wait and see. Mike beveled the edges with his saw. That saw is pretty handy.

Alrighty... gonna go curl into a fetal position... watching The Hobbit and Gollum freaks me out...

259 - The Bo-Bo's and Bally, friends forever

Bo has a new favorite toy. It's a tennis ball, or as I call it, "Bally."

It used to be that sometimes when he wasn't quite ready to settle in for the night, he would bring the remains of his duck to bed and contentedly chew on it until he got sleepy. The remains of his duck, by the way, are basically an orange rope.

Last night he brought Bally with him. He'd gnaw on it and Bally would get away from him, bounce across the floor and he'd get up, retrieve it, hop back into bed then curl back up and start chewing again. He did that a couple of times. Eventually Bally bounced away once more and he watched it intently then laid his head on my leg for a few seconds, debating. I surmised that he couldn't abandon Bally to the lava*, so he snuffled, got up, retrieved Bally from the floor, hopped back onto the bed, deposited Bally at the foot of the bed, then curled up and went to sleep.

* When he's playing with a toy he will do anything to stay on a sofa, his pillow, or the bed and avoid the floor, so we joke that he's playing a game of "the floor is lava."

Tonight when Bo went potty, he started to dash off to the field and I yelled BALL! He came running back to the house like his ass was on fire. I'll file that away for future use.

At the moment he's crashed out on the sofa next to me, but earlier, Mike and Bo had a spirited game of catch. Then Bo converted it to a game of keep-away.

You have my ball?

Correction: *I* have my ball.

I would like Bally back, please...

Bally!

Nom-nom-nom...

Don't touch my ball.

Treats?

Who needs 'em - I have Bally.

He certainly keeps us entertained.
